Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitor are polarized types with limited frequency response whose anode electrode (+) are made from a high-purity aluminum foil with an aluminum oxide thin film dielectric on its surface. SMD style electrolytic capacitors with non-solid electrolyte (vertical-chips, V-chips) have a colored filled half circle or a minus bar on the top case side visible to indicate the minus terminal side.
